Zurich and MMC announced as launch sponsors of The AI Social

The AI Social is delighted to welcome Zurich on the Isle of Man and MMC – Content & Communications as sponsors of its launch event on Wednesday 16 September 2026. The launch marks the beginning of a new community for women who want to meet new people, explore AI and learn in a relaxed, welcoming way. Guests can expect informal conversation, fresh ideas and an introduction to upcoming in-person meetups, online guest speaker sessions and practical workshops.

MMC – Content & Communications joins as the very first sponsor of The AI Social, supporting the event from the very beginning. Craig Wolstencroft, Managing Director at MMC, said: "AI is already changing how we live and work, and women should have a strong voice in where it goes next. MMC is proud to sponsor this event, creating a welcoming space for women to learn more about AI and connect with others who are curious about it."

Zurich on the Isle of Man also joins as a launch sponsor, reflecting its wider commitments to AI and diversity. "Zurich on the Isle of Man is proud to be a sponsor of The AI Social," a spokesperson said. "This initiative complements Zurich's group wide AI for Everyone principle which aims to enable colleagues across our organisation to work confidently with AI while scaling it responsibly to create sustainable long term value, and it's also aligned with our diversity & inclusion strategy."

Laura Walker, Founder of The AI Social, said: "We are so grateful to both Zurich and MMC for supporting the launch. Their backing is helping us bring women together to explore AI, build confidence and make meaningful new connections."

Lena Chauhan appointed North West London Chapter Lead

We are delighted to welcome Lena Chauhan as North West London Chapter Lead. Lena is creating a space where women can explore AI with confidence, away from the jargon and hype that so often gets in the way.

She is the founder of Rise IQ, an AI governance and ethics advisory consultancy, and co-founder of a responsible AI literacy initiative in collaboration with King's College London Responsible AI. Her path into AI began after more than two decades in London's financial derivatives markets, an experience that shaped her 'verify, don't trust the surface' approach to risk, now applied to how organisations, schools and families navigate AI.

Lena advises boards and regulated industries on AI governance, contributes to UK AI policy through APPG AI and the House of Lords, delivers 'Parenting in the Age of AI' workshops for schools and organisations, and hosts the podcast Hardwired: The Human Algorithm.

As a parent of a tween and teenager, she is especially passionate about helping women feel confident asking the questions that matter, whether that's for their careers, their businesses or their families. She is looking forward to building a warm, welcoming community across North West London.

First Global Council for Responsible AI event held on the Isle of Man

This week, our founder Laura Walker and Isle of Man Chapter Lead Carroll Taggart hosted the Island's first Global Council for Responsible AI event, which explored responsible AI in practice.

The event featured fantastic talks from MannBenham's Candy Chan, Dr Atif Sarwar from the University of Liverpool and Dr Emma Forsgren from the University of Leeds. Each speaker brought a different lens to the discussion, from the legal and regulatory picture through to academic research and real world adoption.

Many thanks to MannBenham Advocates for the use of their event space, and to Hollie Glassey for ensuring the event ran smoothly. It was an encouraging first step for the Isle of Man community, and both Laura and Carroll are already planning follow up sessions that build on the conversations started on the night.
